…and he wants to try bike commuting. But Lazarus is quick to tell you he isn’t a “cyclist”, but rather a “person on a bike.”
Howard Lazarus, the director of the City of Austin Department of Public Works (which includes transportation), is going to try bicycle commuting.
This is huge. Important. Awesome. A round of applause please.

I think I too would like to adopt that “title”.
I am glad to see Lazarus arriving at the same idea Al Bastidas has been saying for years. Cyclists —all cyclists— are “a person on a bike”. That is someone’s daughter, husband, friend; that’s why a safe bike infrastructure is of paramount importance for all.
Mr. Lazarus could help quite a bit there, and that would be a very important change for Austin.
