Sitting on a balcony bar, watching the sunset over Waikiki enjoying the last evening of our tropical vacation. Oops…no more mai tai. How symbolic.

Cycling in Hawaii

Reminiscing of when I first moved here (40 years ago) and my cycling exploits. Didn’t pedal any this time around but did observe. Bikes lanes that didn’t exist back then. More lycra roadies than I remember. Saw some innovative carrying of surfboards. Didn’t see any of the cheap road bikes with the inverted drop bars that were so popular back then. Mostly mountain and hybrids with a lot of fat tire beach cruisers thrown in.

Glass Full

As I pack and prepare to head for the airport I look ahead to the coming weeks and months. Bike riding. Bike maintenance. Wheel repair. Renewed sense of desire to advocate.
