Unracer

My conversion to unracer is almost complete.  This Tubus rack has been sitting in my garage for some time.  Finally installed it yesterday and tested it on today’s ride to Yellow Bike.  I like.  Minimal weight penalty.  Good capacity.  My panniers fit perfectly.

I also bought a Planet Bike 5 LED blinky light to attach to it.  Still trying to decide which blink mode I like best.  A couple of them probably induce seizures, which might be a bad thing for those people driving 3 ton death machines.

Are We Racing?

Experienced the Cat 6 (commuter) phenomenon today.  Some dude on a racing bike passed me and then did the Lance stare down (looking over his shoulder daring me to catch him).  I just rang my bike bell and started laughing.  See you at the next red light.

And sure enough I caught up to him a mere 30 seconds later.  He was stuck at a red light.  Unfortunately he confirmed his dipstick status by executing the “left on red.”  I’m still unable to find that provision in the Texas vehicle code.  More unfortunate was all the motorists who witnessed him doing it, including some who no doubt had to brake because of it.
