Something magical about pre-dawn
Set out before sunrise. My old buddy Orion high in the sky. Several very bright stars and planets. Nice cool air. Well…cool for Texas in September. For my northern readers 60F is picnic weather. Just a little bit embarrassed to admit that I had to break out the arm warmers for the first part of the ride. Don’t laugh too hard. But when you’re used to 100+, pre-dawn autumn feels downright chilly especially when you descend into creeks and other low spots.
Headed for my grandson’s school to watch him play his first flag football game. That was part of the early wake up–I wanted to get some miles in before the game. Took the long route through east Austin and then across south Austin. I’ve been thinking about doing a route around Austin. This one was close. Add in the last half of my dam loop through Lakeway and it’s definitely a circumnavigation.

Oh yeah, they won 13 to 6. Hurray.
A quick quiz

West? The sun should still be at your back rising in the east.
