The break-ins at the shop, the long hot humid rides to and from the shop, explaining how to replace an inner tube for the 10,000th time, unraveling the mysteries of v-brake centering. All the little annoyances and frustrations of trying to keep entropy at bay–sorting and resorting parts, replacing tools, the little odds and ends of shop upkeep.
All. Worth. It.
Here are two of our most recent “graduates” of kids earn-a-bike. My superpower of completely forgetting names has kicked in during my 15 mile ride home. Sometime tonight I’ll probably sit up in my sleep and shout out their names. There were a couple of other kids who finished their bikes as well but I had a senior moment and forgot to pull out the camera.

Nice post Tim.
