Pavement Everywhere But Not A Place To Park

Yesterday and today I made short bicycle trips.  What’s ironic is that these trips were for my cars.  One was to the TxTag office to get a toll tag for my wife’s new car.  One was to renew the registration on my car.  In both cases I found lots of pavement surrounding each building but no bike parking.  In one case I locked my bike to a handicap parking sign post.  In the other I locked it to a light pole.

Now I realize that it might seem ridiculous to have bike parking at the toll road authority.  Maybe.  It does seem a little funny that somebody would cycle to get a toll tag.  However, the office is about 2 kilometers from my house (as the old guy pedals) and it seems ridiculous to drive over there.

But the satellite office for the Travis County Tax Office?  This is a community center that provides all kinds of services, not just car registration.  All I’m asking for is a few simple racks placed in plain view and out of the way of the pedestrians.  Not really that much to ask for.

  1. Draft amendments to the Bike Parking plan will be presented at the BAC meeting this Thursday, 21st. Hopefully will help.
